Traders worked for a reaction to-day, and they met with partial success. The tenor of the news favored their operations, covering, as it did, rate disturbances, rumored further injury to the crops, and decreased railway earnings. The bears were particularly aggressive against General Electric, on the ground that the showing made in the annual report of the company was unfavorable, notwithstanding the large decrease in debt reported.
