Date: 09 October 1999

By Bloomberg News

Bloomberg News

The American Home Products Corporation, maker of the most prescribed United States drug, Premarin, has adopted a plan to ward off hostile takeovers after reaching a $3.75 billion settlement on diet pills once used in the ''fen-phen'' combination.
